Deep Ape Main Help

DeepApe is a free debate site currently in Open Beta.
Without registering, you can see current debate challenges, running debates, debates in voting and debate results.
With registration, you can issue and accept challenges, participate in debates, vote on other peoples debates, leave comments, etc.

Joining a debate is simple. Go to the main page and scroll down to open challenges. These are all of the debates for which you are eligible to join. Find one you like and click on the join button. This will take you to a screen where you can enter your position and see the rules of the debate.

Issuing a challenge can be done by clicking the challenge button at the top of the screen. You will be asked to provide the subject, a category, your position, the number of participants, the turn type and the number of rounds. When you are finished entering this information, click the submit button at the bottom and the challenge will be issued.

Canceling a debate can only be done by the user that issued the challenge. Currently you can only cancel a debate before it starts. We will be adding the ability to cancel live debates in the future.

You can leave a debate before it starts. This is recommended as your position will be opened for another user. You can also leave a debate after it starts. This is generally frowned upon because your position will not be reopened. However we recognize that this is only a debate site and not real life. If you are unable to finish a debate, enter your reason and click leave.

Once the number of participants is met, challenges move to live debates. You can easily find your own debates by clicking the mine button. The summary will show the active debater. You can view the debate in progress. When it is your turn, an input box will be shown at the bottom of the debate page. You can preview your turn before submission. The debate proceeds until the last round and according to turn type

Live debates move to the voting phase after the last round. Only non-participants can vote, however you can see the results live. Voters can also leave a short comment.

The site also provides a list of contacts, intersite mail, user list and an account page to update or change your information.
